Who offers in-home pet pickup for cremation near Lexington, KY?
The Final Ride offers 24/7 in-home pet pickup for cremation services throughout Lexington and Central Kentucky. Our Compassion Waggin' comes directly to your home - or your vet clinic - at any hour with no extra charge for nights, weekends, or holidays. You never have to transport your pet yourself. Do you provide cremation services for animals other than dogs and cats?
Yes, absolutely. At The Final Ride, we believe every bond is significant, regardless of the size of the companion. We provide the same dignified, 24/7 compassionate care and personal hand-delivery for small animals as we do for larger pets.
What types of small animals can you cremate?
We serve a wide variety of small companions across Central Kentucky. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Small Mammals: Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Ferrets, Chinchillas, Hedgehogs, Sugar Gliders, Rats, Hamsters, and Gerbils.
• Birds: Parrots, Parakeets, Cockatiels, and other feathered friends.
• Reptiles & Amphibians: Beaded Dragons, Iguanas, Snakes, Turtles, Tortoises, and Frogs.
• Unique Companions: We are happy to help with almost any small household pet. If you have a specific question about a unique companion, please don't hesitate to ask.
How is the service priced for small animals?
Our cremation services are primarily based on weight. Most small animals fall into our smallest category. This ensures that families with smaller companions receive a fair and transparent rate while still benefiting from our premium, white-glove service.
Will I get my small pet’s ashes back?
Yes. Just like our services for dogs and cats, you can choose a Private Cremation, where your pet is cremated alone and their specific ashes are returned to you. Because small animals are delicate, we handle them with extreme care to ensure you receive a meaningful memorial.
Does the "Compassion Waggin'" pick up small animals too?
Yes. Whether you are at home or a veterinary clinic in Lexington, Nicholasville, or the surrounding counties, we will arrive in the Compassion Waggin' to provide a dignified transport for your small companion. We are "the right call" for every pet parent in Central Kentucky, no matter how small the paws, claws, or wings.
Peace for their journey. Comfort for yours.
What do I do if my pet passes away at home? Do I call the vet?
When it’s time to say goodbye, your vet focuses on care. We focus on the transition. One call to us —the specialists—that’s all it takes for your peace of mind. Call us directly to start the final journey, whether your pet has passed at home or at the vet clinic. We will handle everything, coordinate with your vet when needed, so you don't have to... we will take care of every detail during your time of need. You can read more here.(https://www.thefinalride.org/post/what-happens-when-my-pet-dies-at-home)
How long does the cremation process take?
The cremation process usually takes about 7-10 days, depending on the package selected and any additional urn or keepsake items ordered. We will notify you as soon as the process is complete to schedule delivery back to you. We include all transportation, pickups and deliveries of your pet's remains to and from the crematory, from your vet or home, allowing you to focus on grieving without any added stresses. We will take care of this process for you from start to finish.
What is the process for my pet's cremation?
Once your pet arrives at our facility, they are handled with respect and care throughout the cremation process. When we arrive at your location, we respectfully move the pet from where they are and secure the pet into our Pet Transport Vehicles.
Once we arrive at the crematory facility, the paw print and other keepsakes are collected. The pet will then move into the actual cremation process. Once the cremation process is respectfully completed, the package you chose is prepared and then placed in line for delivery back home to you. You can learn more about the steps in the process HERE.(https://www.thefinalride.org/central-kentucky-pet-cremation-process)

How do I know that I'm receiving my pet's ashes?
We utilize a strict secure tracking system from the moment your pet enters our care until they are returned to you. Each pet is assigned a unique identification tag that stays with them throughout the entire process. We offer Private Cremation,(https://www.thefinalride.org/post/why-individual-pet-cremation-with-private-cremation-services-is-the-right-choice-for-your-pet) ensuring your companion is the only pet in the chamber, providing you with absolute certainty and peace of mind.
When it comes to honoring your pet’s memory, a private cremation service (https://www.thefinalride.org/service-page/standard-private-cremation-99lb-199lb)offers unmatched benefits. Unlike communal cremation, where multiple pets are cremated together, private cremation guarantees that your pet’s ashes are returned to you alone.
Here are some reasons why private cremation is the right choice:
• Exclusive care: Your pet is never mixed with others during cremation.
• Transparency: You can trust that the ashes you receive belong only to your pet.
• Emotional closure: Having your pet’s ashes allows you to create a meaningful memorial or keepsake.
• Flexibility: You can choose how and when to hold a memorial or scattering ceremony.
The Final Ride’s private cremation service is designed to provide comfort and assurance during a difficult time. Our compassionate team is here to guide you every step of the way.
What steps should I take if my pet passes away at home?
If your pet passes away at home,(https://www.thefinalride.org/my-pet-passed-at-home) take some time to grieve with your household members, including other pets. Allow other pets to see the body so they can understand their friend has passed. Then, contact our immediate assistance line at 1-859-740-0195. We recommend placing a blanket or puppy pad beneath your pet to absorb any fluids before transport. The Final Ride will handle everything from there. We are the right call, at your toughest moment.
Can I go ahead and organize the pickup before they have passed? We know it will happen soon.
Yes, of course you can. Just give us a call at your opportunity and we will walk you through the entire process, whether your loved one passes at home or a veterinary clinic. We will be with you at every step of the way. Pre-planning is hard - we know - but let our experienced hands help you during one of your toughest moments.
